The Town of Southwest Ranches is located in Southwest Broward County occupying a land area of approximately 13 square miles. It counts with a population of 7,000 residents who love to live in a rural environment with an exclusive scenery of grazing animals and wildlife. Zoning in Southwest Ranches is almost wholly rustic housing and agricultural requiring a minimum of at least one to two acres per lot. There are recreational facilities with open green spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy a relaxing weekend. The Town counts with roosters crowing, donkeys braying and no side walks in order to preserve the town’s rural lifestyle. The history of Southwest Ranches says that in March of 2000 the State Legislature called for a vote to the town’s residents by giving them three options to vote for: becoming a part of the cities of Pembroke Pines and/or Davie, or become a new city. Southwest Ranches Homeowners Association promoted the town’s incorporation and formed the Southwest Ranches Homeowners Association Political Committee. Council Members were elected on July 25, 2000 so the Town is officially in business since then.
