The City of Plantation was named as such on April 30th, 1953 and is situated in Broward County.
This city was born with a population of 500 individuals.
The first Council meeting took place near the crossroads of Broward Boulevard and East Acre Drive. And, it is known that this place was later utilized for the creation and construction of the first City Hall, Police Department and Fire Station.
By 1956 the city didn’t have any schools so children travelled to Fort Lauderdale, and all entertaining and spare time activities were held at Holiday Park.
The growth of the population increased considerably and especially the Real Estate market. Home constructions and all kinds of project developments made the City Council to certify the artistic look of Plantation by stating that equal homes shouldn’t be built within 600 feet of one another. By then, homes were valued from $17,000 to over $50,000.
Plantation City was continually growing at a solid speed and the requirements for more public services and more land for setting up city amenities were effectively heard.
Today, the city has a population of 84,500 with approximately 55 variety of cultures and major employers such as Florida Power and Light, Motorola, American Express, Plantation General Hospital and Westside Regional Medical Center.
The City of Plantation is prosperous in facilities and public services. It provides a ready for action business environment for residents and also for visitors who want to invest in it by buying a home in Plantation due to a professional career or job requirement.
