The City of Opa Locka is situated in the north western area of Miami-Dade County. Opa Locka counts with a general airport, three parks and two lakes. It has a population of about 14,700 residents and has the most distinctive buildings and construction designs in the country. The city experienced a very elevated number of unemployment and poverty. About 61% of Opa Locka’s females are the head of the household and their incomes are stated below the poverty level.
