Hallandale Beach: Home For Sale in Hallandale Beach

Hallandale Beach

Hallandale Beach was first discovered when Henry Morrison Flagler extended the Florida East Coast Railway to Palm Beach in 1895. Before that year, there wasn't much to say about Hallandale Beach except flood and a grey sandy soil called marl.

Henry Flagler employed Luther Halland who was a son of a Swedish minister and brother-in-law to one of Flagler's agents, to begin a Swedish settlement in Dania. With the help of a traveller named Olaf Zetterlund, Luther Halland started promoting the subtropical weather and cheap land in the area that was first called Halland  to later  be named Hallandale.  Halland place a small job position in the new community and soon after turned out to be its first postmaster.

Growing was slow and by 1900 only twelve families were based as permanent residents. They were Swedish, English, and two black. In 1904 the first school was built and only ten students attended classes. Two years later the first Lutheran church was built. Hallandale was initially a farming community. Farmers used to go to the beach  for leisure time. Hallandale formally became a town on May 14, 1927 and, around that time, there were 1,500 residents. In 1947, Hallandale was recognized as a city, and was approved to annex land to the east.  By 1999, the city of Hallandale legitimately changed its name to Hallandale Beach. The city is opportunely located between Fort Lauderdale and Miami with easy entrance to International airports of Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood and Miami, Port of Miami, Port Everglades and I-95 as well as being located next to Aventura City. Hallandale Beach offers many housing options for both residents and visitors from modest single-family homes to luxurious properties, in very tranquil, landscaped neighborhoods. It also offers different types of condo units to buy and rental apartments on the Atlantic Ocean with impressive ocean views.  People can fully enjoy beautiful beaches as well as a wide choice of sporting activities.

Hallandale Beach has a population of 31,367 residents and increases approximately to 41,511 during the winter season. The City counts with  a Parks and Recreation Department which provides recreational activities for all ages. Shopping has been described as a great experience in Hallandale Beach. The Diplomat Mall and Fashion Row are local fashionable shopping areas.
