The City of Coconut Creek is located in northern Broward County between Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties. Coconut Creek became a city in 1967. Real Estate developer R.E Bateman understood that the whole area would grow and bought the land that was the heart of Coconut Creek in 1956. The land was full of amazing trees, especially native pines, so Bateman started thinking about clearing up the whole area to turn it out into beautiful homes. Many trees were, of course, preserved. Bateman called the area “Edgefield” because the land was situated on the edge of farm fields. He then changed the original name to “Coconut Creek” to catch the attention of home buyers looking for a tropical place to invest or live in. Bateman took the name from the communities of Coconut Grove and Indian Creek. In the 60’s, a well known homebuilder called John W. Jack Brown joined Bateman and worked hand in hand on construction matters. Brown became the most important homebuilder of Coconut Creek. And the area now called South Creek was by then the main place of all those beautiful homes that were built by John W. Jack Brown.
Coconut Creek is known by far as a distinctive community for its environmental awareness plenty of trees, parks, waterways and butterfly gardens. The City has been certified as a Community Wildlife Habitat. It is also recognized as the “Butterfly Capital of the World” with more than 5,000 individual butterflies and up to 80 species. There’s an annual festival called “Butterfly Festival” and several educational activities at school are performed in that same regard.
The City counts with a population of about 50,000 residents and more than 1,300 business companies in which Real Estate are the most relevant at this time with single-family homes, townhouses and condominiums very well positioned into the Real Estate industry. Coconut Creek is a must visit city, a place where people can shop, play, live and work.
